Crucifixion in the Stars

It was Shabuot, the Jewish festival celebrated seven weeks after Pesach (Passover), when the shaliachim (emmisaries) of Rabbi Yeshua were gathered. During their service strange signs began to manifest. Fire appeared over their heads, and they began to prophesy in foreign languages. The people around them gathered to see what was going on, and some mocked that they must be drunk. However Kiaepa responded to the crowd that this was fulfillment of the words of the prophet Yuæyl (Joel).

"And I will give signs in the heavens and amazing things on earth, blood and fire and screen of smoke. The sun will turn to darkness and the moon to blood about the great and awesome day of יהוה ." - Åbädëa d'Shliħa (Acts of the Apostles) 2:19-20

The Sun and the Moon

If we are correct in calculating that the year in which this took place was 33 c.e. then we may have found the fulfillment of these things in the heavens, and to which Kiaepa referred. The crucifixion occurred on the 14th day of the first moon or month. Now on the first of that moon, of there was a solar eclipse, which is not totally rare, except that it was immediately followed by a lunar eclipse 15 days later. The crucifixion occurred right in between. Below are computer simulations of the sky at those times.

The sun will turn to darkness......and the moon to blood.
Solar Eclipse March 28, 33 c.e.Lunar Eclipse April 3, 33 c.e.
March 19, 33 c.e.April 3, 33 c.e.

Now the word translated as "...about the great and awesome day..." in the Hebrew of Yuæyl (Joel) 3:4 is paniym which literally means "faces" can be translated as "before and behind" and in the Aramaic the word is edlah, which can be understood to mean "about that time" or "up to an including that time". This fits perfectly since these events occur right around the time of the crucifixion on either side, and also in the same order as prophesied, with the solar eclipse being followed by the lunar.

Now another event occurred on the very day of the crucifixion that was not any ordinary solar eclipse, however the sun was mysteriously darkened as recorded in many historical sources1. Some of these also mention the lunar eclipse.

These events signified to the Jews of that time that the chief justice of the Sanhedrin would die without being lamented in a becoming manner. The killing of a great rabbi to be like the removal of a great lamp at a banquet2.

Rabbi Yeshua was in fact the chief judge, who had appointed 70 co-judges to the court of Natzari Israel.

"And He [the Father] gave him authority to also execute judgment." - Yuhanan (John) 5:27

"Afterward, Yëshuå appointed from his disciples seventy others..." - Luqa (Luke) 10:1

"And Yëshuå approached and spoke with them and said to them, All authority in the heavens, and on earth has been given to me, and as my Father has sent me, I send you." - Matay (Matthew) 28:18

Further dismay at the recurrances of lunar eclipses may have stemmed in part from the time when Herod had executed two prominent rabbis during just such an event over thirty years earlier3.

The Constellations

But the heavenly signs did not stop there. Only with the advent of computer powered astronomy software can we calculate the exact position of all the visible stars and heavenly bodies on any given day in the past or future. This can help reveal the hidden meaning of some remaining prophecies in the scriptures that have never been properly interpreted concerning the crucifixion. For example, was he literally in the company of dogs, lions, and unicorns?

"For dogs have surrounded me, a council of evil has encircled me and wounded my wrists and feet."

"Save my soul from the sword, and from the paws of the dogs, your only one. Save me from the lion's mouth, from the horns of the unicorn." - Mazmura (Psalms) 22:17, 21, 22

Now what you are about to read has never been discovered nor revealed before this article. Looking eastward at the cross, how most people would have been able to see the crucifixion, a picture unfolds in the heavens. Below is the how the sky framed the cross on April 1-3, 33 c.e. in mid-afternoon. I believe one reason the sun was darkened that day was so that the stars and constellations would become visible, and this is what they saw.

The remarkable sight placing the cross in the centre, a serpent appears on it, surrounded by exactly the same creatures described in Mazmura (Psalms) 22:17,21-22. Not only that, but the constellations bear exactly the same Greek names as in the ancient Greek Septuagint version of this passage!

"rusai apo romfaiav thn yuxhn mou kai ek xeirov kunov [kunos=canis/canine/dog] thn monogenh mou swson me ek stomatov leontov (leontos=leo/lion) kai apo keratwn monokerwtwn (monoceroton=monoceros/unicorn) thn tapeinwsin mou" - Mazmura (Psalm) 22:21-22, Greek Septuagint version

"When Moshe prayed for the people, The people came to Moshe and said, 'We have sinned by speaking against יהוה and you. Pray to יהוה, and have Him take the serpents away from us.'  יהוה said to Moshe, 'Make yourself a venomous serpent, and place it on a sign post. Everyone who is bitten shall look at it and be saved.' Moshe made a copper serpent and placed it on a sign post. Whenever a serpent bit a man, he would look upon the copper serpent and live." - B'mädbära (Numbers) 21:7-9

This event helps prepare us to understand the how the Messiah takes away the sins of Israel and the world. It also appears that these animals represent those who were in some way responsible for our messiah's execution. I will only make a suggestion here, that the lion represents the wicked king Herod, the dogs represent the high priests Annas and Kaiapas, and the unicorn represents Pontius Pilatus, the Roman governor.

"I am a worm and not a man, a reproach to the sons of men, and despised by the people." - Mazmura (Psalm) 22:7

This verse tells us to look at him as a worm, and a hydra can be a wormy or a serpentile thing. But the Hebrew term used in this description is towla, which is the coccus ilicis. This wormy creature fixes itself to a tree and produces a scarlet fluid that stains the tree. This is the same source used to produce the scarlet clothing for the high priest.

The Comets

There is one more detail, the "sword" from Psalm 22:21, which in Hebrew and Aramaic is hereb, which also happens to be a term used for "comets". A closer look revealed none other than the world's most famous comet, Halley's, right before the face of the serpent, and on a direct course to intersect it - the only comet to do so. The long tail of a comet is reminiscent of a long sword, and this is why it bears this name. Swords also symbolize war, doom, death, just as comets which were also considered to be signs of such events to come. The sword may refer to some other heavenly phenomena like a meteor shower which have been known to appear as swords, for Halley's comet was not likely visible to the naked eye at that time.

The Cup

As the night wears on, the constellations rise, and the long tail of the serpent is revealed. It trickles like blood deep below the horizon, as if penetrating the earth itself. If we take a look through the earth to get a better look yet another remarkable scene emerges.

The first thing we notice is spilled wine cup whose constellation is known as Crater. I believe that we are to consider from this point downward that the tail of the serpent represents spilled blood. This brings to mind a few scriptures.

"This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is shed on your behalf." - Luqa (Luke) 22:20

Blood as Payment on the Scales

When we reach the bottom of the trail of blood, the stage opens up to reveal another set of characters.

"This is my blood of the new covenant, which is shed in exchange for many, for the annulment of sin." - Matay (Matthew) 26:28

"You were slaughtered and you purchased us with your blood for the Almighty" - Gëlyäna (Revelation) 5:9

The Centaur

The Centaurs originally represented an early tribe of mounted warriors who were mythologized into half-man half-horse "monsters" by the first non-equesterian peoples they encountered. They almost always appear in ancient illustrations as lancing some animal they were hunting. The name may have a similar etymology to Centurion or at least it is a play on words. It is interesting to note that centurions had the priviledge of riding horseback while the legionaires marched on foot. The constellation Centaurus' position over the cross shows that he is in charge of the crucifixion and lancing the sacrificial animal (Therion). The lance however has been supplied by the viewer's imagination based on the position of the arms.

"In ancient times, the constellation was considered an asterism within Centaurus, and was considered to have been an arbitrary animal, killed, or about to be killed, on behalf of, or for, Centaurus." - Wikipedia, Therion (Constellation)

I went about searching for graphic of Longinus, the name of the Centurian responsible for finishing Yeshua, and you guessed it, almost every portrait shows him mounted on a horse while thrusting his spear. This reflects the strength of the tradition that recalls the mounted centurion.

The Altar

The scene, exactly 12 hours after it began. The heavenly pagentry is finished as no further constellations arise.

"For the soul of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your soul: for it is the blood that atones for the soul." - W'qra (Leviticus) 17:11

"and he did not enter in with the blood of goats or of calves, but with the blood of himself he entered the house of eminence one time and obtained redemption forever." - Åëbräya (Hebrews) 9:12

Here Centaurus or the centurion is playing the role of the priest putting the sacrificial animal on the altar.

1.    "In the fourth year of the 202nd Olympiad (i.e., AD 33) there was ‘the greatest eclipse of the sun’ and that ‘it became night in the sixth hour of the day [i.e., noon] so that stars even appeared in the heavens. There was a great earthquake in Bithynia, and many things were overturned in Nicaea." - Phlegon, 137 AD

"Now when he was crucified darkness came over all the world; the sun was altogether hidden, and the sky appeared dark while it was yet day, so that the stars were seen, though still they had their luster obscured, wherefore, I suppose your excellency is not unaware that in all the world they lighted their lamps from the sixth hour until evening. And the moon, which was like blood, did not shine all night long, although it was at the full, and the stars and Orion made lamentation over the Jews because of the transgression committed by them." -  Pontius Pilate

"Christ suffered this year, in which time we find in other commentaries of the heathen these words: "There was a defection of the sun: Bithynia was shaken with an earthquake, and many houses fell down in the city of Nicea." - Tertullian, Chronicle Volume II, 315 c.e.

"And it was noon, and darkness came over all Judea: and they were troubled and distressed, lest the sun had set while he was yet alive: it is written for them, that the sun set not on him that hath been put to death." - Lost Gospel According to Peter

2.
"The rabbis taught: An eclipse of the sun is an ill omen to the whole world. What does this resemble? A human king making a banquet for his servants, and placing a great lantern before them, when he gets angry he says to his servant: Take away the light, let them sit in the dark.

We have learned in a Boraitha: R. Meir said: When the sun and the moon are eclipsed, it is a bad sign to the enemies of the Israelites (meaning, the Israelites themselves), because they are used to troubles: it is equal to the teacher's coming to the school with his whip in his hand. Who is more afraid? The child used to being beaten. This is the case when Israel do not do the will of the Creator; but when they do, they need not fear anything, as it is written [Jeremiah, x. 82]: "Thus hath said the Lord: Do not habituate yourselves in the way of the nations, and at the signs of the heavens be ye not dismayed; although the nations should be dismayed at them."

The rabbis taught: On account of the following four things the sun becomes eclipsed: When a chief judge dies, and is not lamented becomingly;" - Talmud Succah 29a

3.     This occurred on night of December 28, 1 b.c.e. - Josephus, Antiquities XVII. 164–167.
